# For managers and delegated administrators

Tasks available to managers and delegated administrators in SelfService.

The pages in this section cover tasks that only some people can do: creating users, uploading people in bulk, resetting passwords for many people at once, and managing groups.

You will only see these menu items if your organization has given you a **delegated-administration** role — permission to perform certain administrative tasks for a defined set of people, without being a full system administrator.

If you don't see them, you don't have that role, and nothing here applies to you.

## What's in this section

| Page                                                                                       | What it covers                                                |
| ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ | ------------------------------------------------------------- |
| [Creating a user](/end-user-guide-for-selfservice/for-managers/new-user.md)                | Raising a request for a new person's account                  |
| [Bulk upload](/end-user-guide-for-selfservice/for-managers/bulk-upload.md) | Creating or updating many people from a file |
| [Bulk password reset](/end-user-guide-for-selfservice/for-managers/bulk-password-reset.md) | Resetting passwords for a list of people |
| [Group management](/end-user-guide-for-selfservice/for-managers/group-management.md) | Creating groups, cloning them, and managing who approves them |

Everything to do with your own direct reports — resetting one password, reviewing one person's access, handling a transfer or a leaver — is in [Your team](/end-user-guide-for-selfservice/your-team.md) instead.

## The one rule worth stating

These tasks affect other people's accounts, often many at once. Two habits make them safe:

* **Check the list before you confirm.** Every bulk screen shows you what it is about to do and to whom. That preview is the last cheap moment to catch a mistake.
* **Prefer the reversible action.** Disabling can be undone; deleting usually cannot.

{% hint style="info" %}
Everything you do here is recorded against your name. That is protection as much as oversight — when someone asks months later why an account was created or a password reset, the record answers it.
{% endhint %}

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://docs.openiam.com/end-user-guide-for-selfservice/for-managers.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
